On Marajó Island, located in the Amazon delta region of Brazil, reports of a dead humpback whale found far inland created immediate confusion among residents and observers. The location itself added to the shock: dense vegetation, tangled roots, and a forest environment where large marine animals are never expected to appear. The sight of an approximately eight-meter whale calf resting deep inside a jungle-like area felt unnatural and difficult to comprehend at first glance.
