the barn after you go inside.

That was all.

No explanation.

Just instructions.

I unlocked the farmhouse door.

The inside shocked me.

The place wasn’t abandoned.

Someone had cleaned recently.

Fresh flowers sat in a mason jar on the kitchen table.

Two sealed envelopes rested beside them.

And next to the envelopes stood an old olive trunk.
