It was simply memory that could not be argued with.
For three weeks, nothing. No calls, no panic, no apology. Then the texts started. Did the rent go through? Emily, this isn’t funny. You can’t just stop like that without warning. That last one almost made me laugh out loud, the idea that adequate warning would have been the reasonable solution.
