Biker Stormed Into a School and Dragged a Trembling Boy Out of Class by His Arm

playing dress-up. I lifted him onto the bike behind me. He laced his fingers together against my stomach and held on.

Three teachers were standing on the school steps watching us. One had her phone out, recording. I heard sirens in the distance, getting closer.

I started the engine.

“Papa,” Caleb said. “They’re gonna come for you.”
